It's the season for skiing, and since it's one of America's favorite winter pasttimes, you might be looking for a new white vacation spot this year. Located just two hours north of Montreal in the Laurentian Mountains, this 500-million-dollar village gets over 150 inches of snow every year and has a total of 95 runs and 14 lifts. With the pyramid of the Matterhorn looming above this ski village in the Alps, this snowy place is car-free and can only be reached by train. Zermatt has 29 mountains, nine of which stand as the tallest mountains in Europe. If you're looking for a year-round skiing spot, Zermatt's high altitude guarantees snow all year, and the resort has the longest ski run in Europe.
